Els aiguamolls catalans, aix\u00ed com els deltes de tots els rius -inclosos els m\u00e9s importants, com els de l’Ebre, el Llobregat i el Tordera- apareixen com a directament amena\u00e7ats pel canvi clim\u00e0tic. Segons el llibre Informe sobre el canvi clim\u00e0tic a Catalunya, l’augment relatiu del nivell mitj\u00e0 del mar, la car\u00e8ncia progressiva d’aportacions sediment\u00e0ries per part dels rius, i la major persist\u00e8ncia i freq\u00fc\u00e8ncia de les tempestes marines s\u00f3n els tres factors que implicaran una p\u00e8rdua de territori costaner, amb tots els perjudicis que aix\u00f2 pot comportar.
\nAgust\u00edn S\u00e1nchez-Arcilla, Jos\u00e9 A. Jim\u00e9nez i Joan Pau Sierra (tots tres professors de la Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya) s\u00f3n els autors del cap\u00edtol que parla de la influ\u00e8ncia del canvi clim\u00e0tic en les zones costaneres catalanes. Segons expliquen, el canvi clim\u00e0tic es traduir\u00e0 -s’est\u00e0 notant ja – en la pujada del nivell mitj\u00e0 relatiu del mar i en la intensitat i persist\u00e8ncia de les borrasques, aix\u00f2 \u00e9s, en tempestes d’onatges m\u00e9s duradores i amb major for\u00e7a. Aquests factors portaran com a conseq\u00fc\u00e8ncia inundacions m\u00e9s habituals i disminuci\u00f3 del volum sedimentari (sobretot de sorra) disponible a la zona costanera.
