Les \u00faltimes dades oficials fetes p\u00fabliques pel Servei de Sanitat Vegetal, del mes de juny, parlen de 3.633 exemplars destru\u00efts. De moment, els tractaments, tots en fase experimental, no han donat els resultats esperats. A Tordera, fins avui, s&#8217;han comptabilitzar 42 exemplars infectats i destru\u00efts. La pres\u00e8ncia d&#8217;aquest insecte en forma de plaga est\u00e0 obligant a canviar alguns paisatges de Catalunya, perqu\u00e8 la lenta i constant destrucci\u00f3 de les palmeres no s&#8217;atura. L&#8217;escarabat treballa amb temps \u2013uns 12 mesos\u2013 i els efectes de la invasi\u00f3 de l&#8217;arbre no s\u00f3n visibles fins que, en la majoria de cops, ja no hi ha res a fer per salvar-lo. I no es tracta tan sols d&#8217;haver matat la palmera, sin\u00f3 que cal afegir una despesa per exemplar que ronda els 600 euros per tallar i cremar l&#8217;arbre.
