Malgrat l\u2019excelsa diversitat orn\u00edtica, el delta de la Tordera no fou protegit per la legislaci\u00f3 catalana\u00a0 per\u00f2, a trav\u00e9s a les directives europees ara forma part de la Xarxa Natura 2000 en forma de lloc d\u2019Inter\u00e8s -biol\u00f2gic- Comunitari.
