Segons les dades oficials publicades per l&#8217;Institut Nacional d&#8217;Estad\u00edstica (INE), l&#8217;1 de gener de 2008, la comarca del Maresme tenia una poblaci\u00f3 de 414.081 habitants. Aix\u00f2 representa un increment percentual de l&#8217;1,2% respecte a les xifres que va publicar la mateixa font l&#8217;any anterior. La poblaci\u00f3 del Maresme continua creixent, tot i que ho fa a un ritme menor que en anys anteriors. Mentre les dades de l&#8217;any passat apuntaven un augment del 2,7%, les darreres publicades per l&#8217;INE indiquen un creixement del 1,2% en relaci\u00f3 al 2006. Aquest percentatge es tradueix en un increment real de 4.956 persones. El creixement de la poblaci\u00f3 ha estat diferent en el territori. Els municipis que han experimentat un augment d&#8217;habitants m\u00e9s destacat han estat Sant Cebri\u00e0 de Vallalta (el 7%), Palafolls (el 6,3%), Tordera (el 4,4%), Dosrius (el 4,2%) i Montgat (el 3,7%).
